Brenda Brueggemann
BB is the current Co-editor of DSQ. Also previous Editor and Co-Editor of DSQ from 2006-2012, when we brought the journal to Ohio State University for completely open access digital publication with the OSU Libraries. At DSQ I am the one who answers most of the emails, leads on copyediting. Much of the daily journal flow work we do together (with weekly editorial meetings) and it is always a joy.
My primary academic fields are rhetoric, disability/deaf studies, and writing studies.
I'm currently on the faculty at UConn (the University of Connecticut) where I serve as the Aetna Endowed Chair of Writing and I continue to carry out my lifelong midwesterner's ethnography of New England/ers.
My top 5 things right now (and really, always) are these:
- Ohio State Buckeye football
- Louisville Cardinals and Kansas Jayhawks basketball (and yes, I realize there are two items there… but I'm always about bending the rules a little)
- All things water, but especially just swimming
- Bourbon
- All things potato, but especially potato chips.
Kelsey Henry
In her first month as DSQ Assistant Editor, Kelsey copyedited Issue 40.4 and wrote Introductory Remarks with Brenda and Elizabeth. She also revived DSQ's Twitter account (@DSQ Journal) and is working on expanding our following and growing our profile in Twitterverse of disability studies and disability justice. Kelsey hopes to further DSQ's commitments to collaborative scholarship and multi-modal/multi-sensorial content delivery, and is particularly eager to nurture cross-disciplinary dialogue on age, race, and disability in DSQ. When she isn't doing DSQ work, Kelsey is pursuing a PhD in American Studies at Yale and working at the nexus of disability studies, critical black studies, and histories of medicine, science, and sexuality.
