Disability Studies Quarterly

Disability Studies Quarterly (DSQ) is the journal of the Society for Disability Studies (SDS). It is a multidisciplinary and international journal of interest to social scientists, scholars in the humanities, disability rights advocates, creative writers, and others concerned with the issues of people with disabilities. It represents the full range of methods, epistemologies, perspectives, and content that the multidisciplinary field of disability studies embraces. DSQ is committed to developing theoretical and practical knowledge about disability and to promoting the full and equal participation of persons with disabilities in society. Note from the editors: 
As the Co-Editors of DSQ, we embrace the task of generating intellectual debate and meaningful conversation around peer reviewed scholarship in the interdisciplinary field of Disability Studies. DSQ is uniquely positioned to engage research and writing across disciplines. Disability Studies scholarship has a firm foundation in the liberal arts while also having practical application to the lived experience of disabled people. We also value strong and creative interventions in the applied fields, recognizing these fields as vital to Disability Studies.

Abstracts should be 500 words or less.

There is much to be said about the relationship between the coronavirus pandemic and disability.  Possible topics for this special issue might include:

• Experiences of disabled people and their support networks during the pandemic;

• Local policy responses to the issue of disability and access to needed health care, including social engineering and eugenics measures;

• Procedures used to facilitate or prevent access to care or treatment;

• Changes in the lives of disabled people during and after the pandemic;

• Interaction of disabled people with new constraints, such as online classes, masks, social isolation, restricted services and mobilities; finally,

• Areas of strength and expertise that disabled people bring to the current crisis.
