Editor's Introduction, Summer 2008

Wherever you are this summer—at work, at play, in an archive, on the beach, on your computer, on the patio, in the pool, around the town, freezing in an over air-conditioned building, or sweating in the summer sun—we hope his Summer 2008 issue of DSQ suits you. We think it is a nice summer companion to a very successful Society for Disability Studies conference held in New York City in June!

We have a triple dip treat of special sections for you this time around:

• A feature section that grows out of recent disability studies work from the January 2008 American Historical Association annual convention, guest edited by Audra Jennings, Secretary of the recently organized Disability History Association (see: http://dha.osu.edu/)
• A feature section on Disability/Studies in Japan, guest edited by Maho Suzuki.
• A feature section with material from the 2007 and 2008 Zola Award (for Emerging Scholars in Disability Studies) winners: Ann Millett (Honorable Mention, 2007) and Michael Rembis (Winner, 2008)

The issue is further topped with some excellent poetry, cultural commentary, and book reviews. Enjoy!

Because this issue features international work it is also completely open access; individuals and institutions outside the regular membership/subscribers list can read it too!
